Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. The Corcoran Group is a New York-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly thereafter. Corcoran was a participant in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. She has participated in 53 deals as of February, 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 purchase to pay for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. Her family often relied on free food deliveries from a local grocery store. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who would drink sometimes and was rude to her mother. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at a Catholic primary school within her community and started high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was a failure in many classes during her freshman year, moved to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
